That's a proprietary format belonging to Adobe; PageMaker and its
successor, InDesign, are probably the only ones that can read those
files (properly, anyway). Depending on what you want to do, you may be
able to get similar results using Writer and/or Draw, or another program
more specifically designed for desktop publishing. Many people on this
list use Scribus, another open source project (that is, free!). In
either case, you'd have to recreate the files rather than just opening them.
