I had OpenOffice for years with my PC and loved it. Now I have a Mac and

Please give more explicit details.
Did you download OpenOffice.org ? ( http://download.openoffice.org/index.html )
Did you install it after downloading ? (open .dmg file you downloaded and drag
OpenOffice.org.app to your Applications folder)
If so OOo will be in your Applications folder. Double click on it to open.
