sorry for reposting but someone must know an answer to that question, so I'll give it another try:
I have lots of cross-references in my documents, mostly to chapters, things like "for an explanation see section 3.2.4". Now I have only been able to do that by first creating a bookmark on the heading of the referenced chapter, giving it a name and then creating a cross-reference to that bookmark, which somehow does not feel right. There must be a way of selecting just the chapter without that extra step or mustn't there? I end up having to add bookmarks to almost all my headings which can't be right.
