This is not OOo-specific, but a question about this particular list.
I notice a lot of reminders to keep replies on the list (both in posted
message bodies as well as some signatures).
Isn't this list configured to set each and every Reply-to header to
[email protected] ?
Are people using a mail client that ignores/overrides the Reply-to
header? Or are people actually hitting Reply, copying the address of the
poster and overwriting [email protected] with that poster's address?
I'm not trying to picky, start a fight, or anything like. I am genuinely
curious. I've been on many lists over the years, and seen this issue
come up before, but never as frequent as I see it here.
Am I missing something? Is there a web-based interface that this list
uses that ignores/overrides the Reply-to header?
Consufed.....
Hi Ken
As one of the guilty parties asking people to "reply only to
[email protected]" I will explain my motivation.
I use it only where I see a "moderated" in the mail headers, meaning the
sender is not subscribed to the list. The reply reminder is an attempt
(largely unsuccessful) to keep their replies on the list, as it does
help to know if something works, or if one did not give a clear
explanation, etc. This means that I have CC'd the original poster.
Hope this helps clear your consufion! (Was that a typo or a statement?)
Regards
Russell
Useful thanks.
It seems that I am 'subscribed' to this list, but - I cannot recall when
and how.... (!)
The implications of this can be confusing, including for me.
Perhaps 'keep on list' posts may be more effective if a few words of
explanatory background - a summaary of this thread etc - were also added
to the message?
