I am setting up a database for the nonprofit corporation for which I 
volunteer.  The manager told me that Java would enhance functionality but is 
not 
really sure how.  I have read some of the material online but have not been 
able to 
determine if I really need Java for the database portion of OpenOffice (i.e. 
"base").  Do I need Java for "base"?

The manager also heard that "base" ties in to sql if larger databases are 
needed.  Is this true and if this is true where can I get information on how to 
do this?

Where do I get specific info on how to get started using the "base" program?
