My problem is : The spell check refuses to open itself.
If forced, it says no mistake when there are some.

Hello,
Try Tools | Options | Language Settions | Writing Aids, select the dictionary installed, click edit and ensure that the words you think it should be spellchecking are actually in the dictionary. I hope that's a good starting point.

In version 2.0.0 and above spell-checking works on the basis of the language attribute of the text. It is possible that your text has the language attribute set to a language for which you do not have an active dictionary. In such cases no errors are found.

Not setting the proper language in the text is a common error.

As a test, select your entire document, set it to "Default" paragraph style and select Format -> Default formatting. Press F11 to bring up the Stylelist. Select the paragraph icon. Under that icon right-click on "Default" and select "Modify...". In the dialog box that appears select the "Font" tab and make sure the language setting is set to "French (France)", that is if you have an active French (France) dictionary.

If the setting was set to something else for which no dictionary was available or active, then spell checking *should* fail.

If you have a French (France) dictionary active, your text is all set to "Default" paragraph style, and the "Default" paragraph style's language attribute is set to French (France), then spell checking should work.
