Hmm? You do not need Java if you want to connect to an .mdb file. Java
is solely required if you want to use Base's integrated database engine,
HSQLDB.
For connecting to an .mdb file, just choose "Microsoft Access" in the
"File / New / Database" auto pilot, and the browse for your .mdb file.
It's as easy as this.

(Yes, on systems other than WinXP / Win2000 you need the MDAC
components, as mentioned elsewhere in the thread.
And yes, this is a Windows-only feature, since MS' ADO drivers are
available on Windows only (of course).)


I thought the database wizard didn't work at all (like, not even displaying) without JRE. If it does, that's great to know. Thanks!
