Hello All -

I am getting a strange symptom with OOo 2.0.2 Writer which may be a
bug. In addition to level 2, I have been using level 1.1.0 for some
time and a difference you might like to check was observed.

The problem has to do with using COPY of web page data from Internet
Explorer 6.0 SP2 and then using PASTE in Writer to store the
information. In most cases this works and embedded links are preserved
but there is one site's data in which the links are consistently lost
using OOo 2.0 but they are preserved using level 1.1.0.

By way of background, I will soon retire and I am investigating
factors such as taxes and cost-of-living in a number of states to
decide on my destination. Since my medical coverage is via the
Veterans Administration, an item of interest is the location of
medical facilities within various states and acquiring this
information brought the problem to light.

If you click on http://www1.va.gov/directory/guide/home.asp you will
reach the VA facility locator page and clicking on any displayed state
will present a page of all the facilities located there. I hold down
my left mouse button and select all the data from "<State name> (view
addresses)" to the last facility entry, then COPY from IE and use
PASTE in Writer to store the information.

The data should enter Writer in the form of a table, cities on the
left with facility identification in the form of a link on the right
and clicking the facility links would take you directly to their
sites.

When I paste the copied data into OOo 1.1.0 the facility links are
preserved but pasting the same data into level 2.0, the table is
identical but the links are lost. Strangely, if I copy the table after
it has been successfully pasted into the level 1.1.0 Write document
and paste it into level 2, the links remain active.

Anyway, if you wish to duplicate the problem, you might click on Iowa
at the VA site to obtain data for a test (data for all the states will
fail in level 2.0 Writer but information for Iowa is very short as the
state has few facilities).

My system is a Dell, pentium 4 at 2.2GHz, 1 GB memory, drive C 40GB
(73% free) and drive D 160GB (95% free), using Windows XP home edition
fully updated.

With many thanks - Joe Schumacher, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
