Me answer was a response to your remark that you didn't know how to deactivate the recognition of emailaddresses. I should have stated that more clearly. Thanks for pointing out the misunderstanding.

You don't even need to do that. Just use Format >Default formatting.
That will kill the link stone dead.

Harold,

If you go to Tools>Autocorrect you can uncheck the option "recognize
URL" or something like that (in the dutch version it's the fifth one
from the top).

Hello

In a Calc sheet, I have a column with mail addresses. Some are
blue, underlined and with a grey background. When I click on one,
I can send an e-mail. Others have the appearance of a normal entry
and don't provide a link to my mail client. How can I 'activate'
them to work as the blue ones?
English OOo 2.0.4 on an iMac with OS X 10.3.9

Thanks

I *think* this will work: for each "non-activated" cell, prepend the
text with "mailto:"; (without the quotes). So for example, "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
becomes mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'd be interested to know how you achieved the non-active values. On
my 2.0.4 Win XP installation, simply entering an e-mail address
"activates" it. In fact, I can't find a way to "de-activate" them so
that they look and behave like normal text.

Terry/Arnold,

I'm 99.99% certain the OP wanted to *activate* the dead links, *not*
de-activate the live ones which is what your procedures do.
