good move..  This way you can be as current as you want to on each package. As 
people who have been involved in open source for a while understand:

1) if you have enhancements to a project you submit it to the developers for 
inclusion.
2) if they refuse and you feel strongly you can fork the project.
3) if you fork the project generally the all support for the forked project is 
handled by the forker not by the project which was forked.
4) as it should be..

I elected to support the OO fork of StarOffice.. Novell (suse), Neo, etc. 
forked OO so support is their problem not mine.. Fred
