As a slight tangent to the user's actual issue here... but if it is happening a lot and is simply a matter of disabling the anti-virus, then why "error 1305" which means nothing to any users and not have a description such as "This error is sometimes caused by interference by your anti-virus program if you have such a program please disable it and try again....etc etc"
Just a thought...

hi!
i'd like to install open office, but during the setup, i get the
message: error 1305. error reading from file
C:\ProgramFiles\OpenOffice.org2.0\help\en\sbasic.idx\DOCS

i get the option to retry or cancel. i tried to 'retry' several
times, but it kept popping up. when i cancelled, the install
program rolled itself back.
any help i could get would be so appreciated.

This is happening quite a bit lately. The problem is your
anti-virus program is interfering with the installation of
OpenOffice.org (OOo). There seems to be a problem with the firewall
as well, although I do not understand why.
To install OOo, you need to have administrator rights. Then you
need to disconnect your computer from the Internet. Only then should
you close your anti-virus and firewall. Then install OOo.
At the end of the install, it will ask you if you want to
register your copy of OOo with the OOo web site. This is not required
and involves filling out some forms about your use of OOo. If you
decide you want to register with the OOo web site, click register
later.
After the installation of OOo is complete, restart your
anti-virus and firewall programs. ONLY THEN should you reconnect to
the Internet.
