I tried putting "StarWars" into cell A1, and a star wars screen appeared. which I then closed. Later, insulting remarks were printed in the cell if I tried to run star wars again. Even after I deleted the input cell information, this is still remembered when another spreadsheet is opened.
I cannot reproduce this on 2.0.4 using winXP. All I got was "say what?" if I didn't use the proper capitals
This worries me! What if these "jokers" who added this into Calc also have inserted other malicious software! Traps that gather sensitive information! This is definitely not professional! Micrososft wouldn't allow it! Sun should remove it! and check the whole suite for other unwanted programs.
Easter eggs (the term used for this type of hidden functionality) appears in all software - including MS software. Who says that are unwanted? They can provide a level of distraction and are only usually inserted for fun... As to the malicious - people are free to check the code to see if anything nasty happens... You could also check MS software as well - ooppps... sorry no you can't do that.... you just have to trust them... It is however not necessary if there are 'insulting remarks'... What were these remarks? Is it possible for a screen shot to be provided? What platform are you on? OOo version? /paul -- Try Torpark; a small portable, open-source, built on Firefox browser that enables anonymous browsing.
