        I do use vi for my rough drafts.  Sometimes I have embedded tabs
        in my file and they mess up the OO formatting.  So my question 
        was how-to change embedded tabs to spaces.  

        (I'll leave the 5-space indented paragraphs for another time!)

        PS:  I think I tried both "[\t]" and "  " on the replace box;
             no luck.
