You can get OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org. Linux is a free, open source operating similar to Unix. There are many different distributions or "distros". Which one you use is generally a matter of preference. I use one called "openSUSE". There are many others. If you know someone who uses Linux, you might ask them what they use. You might also consider Ubuntu or Kubuntu. Many Linux distros include OpenOffice.
