I guess the easiest is to define your heading 3 style with a page break and
remove it manually when you don't need it (i.e. direct formatting). Right click
on the heading 3, Text Flow tab and uncheck the break.

NB: The option for automatic style update has to be unchecked.

Hi,

is it possible in writer to define 2 different heading styles for headings that operate on the same heading level. E.g. I want a heading 3 that sometimes inserts a page break and another heading 3 that does not insert a page break, thus:

Heading 3: no page break
Heading 3 with page break: inserts a page break

Both headings should be part of the table of contents. So when the doc contains:

Heading 3
Heading 3
Heading 3 with page break
Heading 3

The toc should count like:
1.1.1
1.1.2
1.1.3
1.1.4

Does writer support this, is this possible?
