The following should help you:
Click on TOOLS > OPTIONS > OpenOffice.org > Paths > Dictionaries >
share\wordbook\ (select your language preference)
TOOLS > OPTIONS > OpenOffice.org > Paths > Dictionaries >
share\wordbook\(select your language preference)
TOOLS > OPTIONS > OpenOffice.org > Paths > User Configuration >\user\config
TOOLS > OPTIONS > OpenOffice.org > Paths > User-defined dictionaries >
\user\wordbook
TOOLS > OPTIONS > OpenOffice.org > Paths > Writing aids > share\dict
TOOLS > OPTIONS > Language Settings > Languages > (select your language
preference)
TOOLS > OPTIONS > Language Settings > Languages >(select your locale preference)
TOOLS > OPTIONS > Language Settings > Languages > Default languages for
documents (select your language preference)
Make sure that the tick box "For the current document only" is not selected
if you wish these settings to be applied to all of OpenOffice.
