I would like to switch to Open Office and junk excel etc but I have
one large spread sheet that I need to be able to copy parts of to

I am using Mac 10.4 and they are using Windows but they are able to
see my spreadsheets at the moment with a bit of adjustment to the
printing. The recipients do not need to work with the data just view it
Question if I switch to Open Office will they still be able to open my
spreadsheet when I email it to them?
thanks for all the wonderful help you give

If the only thing the recipients need to do is view the spreadsheet,
what I would suggest is exporting the desired portion of the spreadsheet
to a pdf file. (Highlight the area you want them to see, then select
File > Export as PDF; then when the second dialog comes up, click
"Selection" to have only the selected area exported.)
Alternatively, you can save you file as an Excel file (File > Save as),
and then delete the parts that the users won't be needing.
However, since you mentioned that the users can currently see your Excel
spreadsheets but with a bit of adjustment to the printing, I would still
go back to recommending a pdf. That shouldn't require printing
adjustments on the users' end.
