I just downloaded OpenOffice.org 2.2.
I purchased this to replace my Microsoft Works and have a ton of .wps files
I want to transfer. Not computer literate and as I check the list of files I
do not find Microsoft Works . Wps files.!
Any help appreciated!

OpenOffice.org is a free download from http://www.openoffice.org.

There are a couple of options available to you with the current version. As mentioned in another reply, you can start up MS Works and save all your wks files as rtf and import the rtf into Writer.

Another option is given in detail on page 462 of the User Guide.
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/OOo2.x/user_guide2_draft.pdf
and briefly mentioned in the user FAQ:
http://user-faq.openoffice.org/faq/ar01s05.html#id2811800

An import filter for Works files has been developed, and is in the process of being integrated into a coming version of OpenOffice.org. I can't guess which release will have it, but a fix is coming:
