This problem is not unique to OOo (OpenOffice.org) Please try this: Disconnect your computer completely from the internet. Disable your firewall and anti virus (AV) software Run the OOo installer Enable AV and firewall Connect to the net - never connect to the net if AV and firewall are not both running properly Hope this helps.
