Some problems in order of priority for my purposes: 1. I am using OO 2.3 under Windows Vista Home Premium on an Acer AM5620-E1204A. When I insert a fontwork "style" from the gallery into Writer (or anywhere) and attempt to change its shape (fontwork shape button) the inserted fontwork "style" disappears. The handles remain but they too disappear when one attempts to select them. Annoying.
2. I am using an Epson Perfection 1250 scanner with OOWriter on the system above. When attempting to insert a picture (using OOWriter "Insert-picture-scan" dropdown) from the scanner with the Twain facility provided by Epson (latest download for Vista), scanning fails and Writer freezes. I have to go to Windows Task Manager to close OOWriter. When I do a stand-alone scan and save the scanned file to the desktop, it can then be inserted with no problem. Cumbersome. 3. I installed the Gallery extension downloaded from the site linked to the OO site. All of the vector graphics will drag and drop or copy and paste into OOWriter. The photos in the gallery, most of which I think are jpg, simply cannot be dragged or pasted into Writer. Strange. Keep up the good work. I love OO. Colin Stuart P.S. (You don't really need to know the following but here it is anyway) I wouldn't be using Vista, but the power supply failed on my wonderful Ubuntu P4 thingy and there is some difficulty in finding a replacement. I tried installing Ubuntu on this Acer machine and got royally out of my depth with partitioning. In the world beyond GUI and clear instructions I am at a total loss. I get slightly paranoid about the problems noted above and suspect Microsoft of inserting all kinds of little landmines to make things difficult for any software outside their own, and especially for OO. .docx feeds my paranoia: what plans/strategy do you folks have to deal with it? How do I cope if .docx takes over the world? Cheers - CS
