Somehow, you or someone else installed OpenOffice, as it wouldn't have
just appeared.  However, it can be removed the same way as any other
application can be removed.  Open the Control Panel and use Add or
Remove programs.  Find OpenOffice in the list and delete it.  This
should cause the file associations to revert back to Microsoft Office. 
You can also leave OpenOffice in place and simply reset the file
associations, as described below.


Changing file associations

Right click on file icon
Select Open With > Choose Program...
Check "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" and
choose the desired application.
