I'm trying to print 5 copies but OO.oCalc is sending only one to the
printer.

The file is a spreadsheet with no data except a 9 x 9-cell table with
borders. The table is defined as the print area. Nothing would print
until I un-checked the option "Suppress output of empty pages."

After doing that, I came back to the print dialog and increase the
number to five copies. But I get only one.

Am I missing something?

I'm confused. On my Win XP Pro system with OOo 2.2 the number of copies is
an option set in a dialogue supplied by the *printer* software and *not* by
the application (OOo in this case). This is true for *all* the software on
my system. The software sends *one* copy of the document to the print queue.
The printer then spews out multiple copies as required.

What happens if you try to print multiple copies of an e-mail, or some other
document that has nothing whatsoever to do with OOo?

Harold,

Thanks for your continued interest. I've learned that persistent curiosity is almost a prerequisite for solving problems. Maybe a Mac person will pick up.

I use XP at work, and Mac OS X at home. I agree with you up to a point: Yes, the printer driver does all the work, but the application is servicing the print dialog and building the output. For example, whether to print or suppress ABC...123 column and row headers.

I can't get multiple copies of a simple one-page text document in OO.o Writer.

I do get multiple printouts of email. Appleworks (I know, it's old, but still functions) prints multiple copies, including an empty spreadsheet grid like the one in OO.o Calc.

I suspect there's something in OS X Leopard that OO.o hasn't caught up with.

Thanks again,

Harvey
