Indeed - the openoffice.com site does exist and will sell you OpenOffice for
$29 (and/or Microsoft Office if you want it).

It seems to me that one of the tricks that OOo missed was registering web
sites with names similar to its own, There are a number of sites with
similar names which will sell you the product (without telling you it is
available for free). So if you have been recommended OOo and can't quite
remember the name of the web site, the chances are that you will end up
paying for a version.
