OpenOffice can view .pps files from Microsoft PowerPoint unless they were
created as .pppx files by the new "2007" version of MS Office.

What version of OpenOffice have you installed? What version of Windows are
you using?

Please explain, step by step *exactly* how you tried to open your files and
*exactly* what happened. What error messages (*exactly*) did you get?

As far as re-installing MS Office is concerned, you should be able to do
this from your original disks. If you don't have those then you will have to
buy a new version from a Microsoft vendor - not from us.

OpenOffice is free to use in any context on as many computers as you lie.
Documentation is free via download although there are several books for sale
for people who prefer that style. Support via this e-mail list and several
web forums is also free.
