I'm not about to mess up my Tbird settings to check, but can one directly edit the HTML of HTML emails sent with Thunderbird? OOo can save as HTML, and if that HTML can be directly pasted into Tbird then all the real work is done. An OOo extension that opens a new Tbird message and pastes the HTML in would be trivial to write. I don't think a Thunderbird extension would even be necessary.
