For uploading, we might want to use 'YouTube Direct' - in the mean
time, we can simply link videos into channel's playlists.
Also i wasn't able to subscribe to the feed using the feed url on the
homepage

Did you use the "+ Subscribe" button? Can you try another client?
Subscribe is to subscribe to the channel. Feed is for me to get to know
of anything new getting added via email, push stuff, which is not
working.

I subscribed too, but i thought using the "Feed" URL i should be able to
get notifications
in my feedreader too, maybe thats not what "Feed" there means I guess.
