I don't think we had someone testing 4.4.0 to 4.4.2 but above procedure
should work for the same case.
The problematic filter in /etc/lvm/lvm.conf looks like:

# grep '^filter = ' /etc/lvm/lvm.conf
filter = ["a|^/dev/mapper/mpatha2$|", "r|.*|"]
