I agree with Georg
SOGo installs quite easily by itself, and any entity using LDAP, Postfix
or Dovecot/Cyrus would already have those services installed on
differing servers with differing options. Creating an installer to
cover those options would not simplify the process but make it more
difficult. And, adding SOGo to that mix is not difficult for a mail admin.
Any entity starting from scratch should consider the ZEG for its
simplicity and ease of maintenance. We did. Import the ZEG image into
a virtual machine; login; change mail and domain parameters; and setup
mail clients.
We chose to keep the Thunderbird mailboxes on a separate server where
backup could be accomplished by the backup program we already use, and
we backup the ZEG by taking snapshots; storing; and restoring when needed.
It's as simple as that! It gives us the functionality we need with a
very small outlay and maintenance cost.

Hey,
what should be part of that installer? SOGo only? LDAP installation and
configuration? Postfix and Dovecot/Cyrus installation and configuration? SOGo
1.x itself is quite easy to install. If the final release of SOGo 2.0 will be
just as easy, I don't see a point in having a step-by-step installer.
If you want all the points mentioned above included ... I don't think this is a good
idea. We are dealing with "mail" here. People setting up SOGo should know about
mail server configuration, should be willing to learn to install all the necessary
components, otherwise it could lead to a, well, rogue server, sending out a huge amount
of spam on a daily basis.
