Hi Everyone,
I have been using SOGo for myself internally and for a customer, and it
really is a wonderful product.
I now am trying to install a SOGo solution for another customer where I
have phased out their MS Exchange 2003 server in favour of CentOS 6.5 in
an IMAP solution.
The issue is, this customer wants to still share address books and
calendars as they did with Exchange and given the success I have had
with Thunderbird and Android/iPad/iPhone connections to SOGo based
solutions, I have started to try and implement SOGo with OpenChange and
have found myself in a massive minefield no matter which way I turn.
To this end I am looking to see what open source solutions there are for
a CardDAV/WebDAV/CalDAV solution for Outlook clients (they are also
still using Outlook 2003 for the most part, which does not help). Given
OpenChange config is not going too well, I am perhaps thinking of a cool
open source connector like the Thunderbird Connector for SOGo, as I run
on my desktop - beautiful product.
I have tried to implement SOGo with OpenChange and have been wading
through the myriad of conflicts with Samba versions and dependencies. I
have removed Samba 3.x completely (which also rips out KDE and for the
most part Gnome). I have got to a 'place' where Samba 4.0.4 from the
nightly builds is installed with OpenChange etc - but now I can't get MS
PC client access to the MS shares from a Windows PC as it was doing
before and changes - as this customer site uses Samba for file sharing,
I need it to work.
My base line question is: has anyone ever got CentOS 6.5 running with
SOGo and OpenChange with the added ability of simple MS share folder
access for PCs? Or should I look for another open source solution?
PS: I am running the same model as the customer here trying to get a
clean environment (preferably rpm based), that I can then replicate at
the customer site with little or no down time for them.
Not having much luck at all.
CentOS 7 seems to have the correct 'bits' for this solution but I don't
want to upgrade the newly install 6.5 site only to find I have once
again taken one step forward and 10 steps back :-(
Any input would be much appreciated.
