same at my site with the first patch. after running spamassassin for 20 minutes
i've got a load of 36.
a lot of unwanted amavisd-child processes were hanging around.
the second patch is great. after applying it everything works fine

extracting the raw sa3.0.0 .bz2
cd Mail-SpamAssassin/lib/Mail/SpamAssassin/
patch < $util.pm.patch
perl Makefile.pl
make
make install

thx
