When you used this, did the spamd process su to the user involved?
I used to always run spamd with -u vpopmail and I believe all the
entries were owned by the vpopmail user.
How ever, this was many many versions ago, probably SA 2.3x or earlier,
so things may have changed now. Try using the %u instead of %l and see
if that helps.
