And what would you do differently?  An SPF record is basically just a list
of valid mail servers for a domain plus a bit of information about how
strict the domain wants to be with that list.

The main problem with SPF is that all valid mail for a domain does not
necessarily come from that domain's mail servers.  (Ignoring, for the
moment, all of the sites with mis-configured or nonexistent SPF records)
