I really am getting confused here

nibbler:/etc/init.d# spamassassin -V
SpamAssassin version 3.0.3
  running on Perl version 5.8.4
nibbler:/etc/init.d#

nibbler:/etc/init.d# apt-get install spamassassin
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
spamassassin is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 38 not upgraded.
nibbler:/etc/init.d#

If apt-get will not install it, how do I upgrade it properly?
