There are a lot of non-spam mail systems with a heck of a lot more than five mail hosts, and I can easily imagine putting a bunch of them on a single LAN where they're be in the same /64. I also don't think it's very realistic to expect that there will be a master mail host file distributed periodically like HOSTS.TXT was. There's a reason that the DNS was invented, and at the time it was, there were a whole lot less hosts on the net than there are mail hosts now. Finally, I presume everyone is aware that there is no possibility whatsoever that RIRs will get into the business of selling mail host IPs, so this entire subthread is 100% hypothetical. R's, John
