I've found it to be a very low volume list. Dan Nelson has not really done much development on the package in recent years, and a lot of the spamass-milter packages out there have been improved with unofficial patches (SMTP AUTH bypass feature for instance), which are not in the current development tree as far as I can see. It's not too difficult to understand the source of the spamass-milter package... that might be your best documentation and help....
