Had a similar question on another list (MailWatch for MailScanner). I received the following reply:
============ "Centos 5.x and 6.x Source installs the binary in /usr/local/bin/ so you might need a symlink for /usr/bin/spamassassin if you are using Mailwatch or you might need to edit your MailWatch conf.php for the location of SA." ============ I removed the existing spamassassin (rpm -e...) then installed from source. It was pretty easy. I edited the update routines which took more time than it should. In hindsight, a couple of symlinks would have been smarter. There was also a bug in the razor2 module. It was a quick fix - just a typo in the module . I'll see if I can dig it up tomorrow. Other than that, it went pretty smoothly... ...Kevin -- Kevin Miller Network/email Administrator, CBJ MIS Dept. 155 South Seward Street Juneau, Alaska 99801 Phone: (907) 586-0242, Fax: (907) 586-4500 Registered Linux User No: 307357 -----Original Message----- From: Michael Schaap [mailto:spamassas...@mscha.org] Sent: Monday, August 25, 2014 12:23 PM To: users@spamassassin.apache.org Subject: Upgrading to SA 3.4.0 on Ubuntu Precise (12.04) Hi, On my server, I'm running SpamAssassin 3.3.2 as provided as a package on Ubuntu Precise (12.04 LTS). I'd like to upgrade to SpamAssassin 3.4.0, but there is no upgrade available for Precise (12.04). I could upgrade to Ubuntu Trusty (14.04), but I'm afraid to... Alternatively, I could install SpamAssassin from source (i.e. via CPAN), but then the locations of all the scripts will be dirrerent, I'll have to figure out the start/stop and update scripts, etcetera. So I was hoping that somebody already did this and packaged SA 3.4.0 for Ubuntu 12.04. :-) I haven't found anything, but does anyone know of a repository containing this? Alternatively, any other tips to easily get this up and running? Thanks, - Michael
