Another update:

Tried to build against latest apr-1.4.6.tar.bz2 & apr-util-1.5.2.tar.bz2 
instead of the older versions from the Ubuntu Lucid repositories. No 
change :-(, i.e. the test fails with the original 
svn_io_sleep_for_timestamps implementation.
