Is tapestry trying to narrow down its users?

I don't understand why Tapestry doesn't provide release binary any more. 
There are many users not using maven out there. Most of them of cause 
don't know they can find it in maven repository either since they don't 
understand maven. This very likely will narrow down Tapestry users...the 
less the better, or you just don't care? I don't understand this at all 
as there are many projects using maven but they still provide release 
binary downloads.
