I started developing a tapestry-push component built on top of http://directwebremoting.org/dwr/documentation/reverse-ajax/index.html DWR's reverse ajax but was disheartened to find that the DWR guys don't eat their own dogfood when it comes to push.
I'm about to make a second attempt at tapestry-push built on top of http://cometd.org/ CometD which is reportedly a much more reliable push mechanism.
