I didn't yesterday; it would be putting it mildly that there's very
little of my own code in the Tomcat context (almost all of it in a layer
that communicates with an AS/400-native server, whose communication
layer is also my own code).
Then I heard back from one of the fellows who DID write the Tomcat app.
It uses BIRT, and evidently BIRT has some kind of a bug that leaks
"perm" space:
