We are using Apache Tomcat 8.5.49

Stop right there. Tomcat 8.5.x reached end-of-life earlier this year
and is no longer supported. The particular version you’re running is
over 4.5 years old, and many, many security and correctness fixes
have been implemented since. You really need to upgrade to a
supported version ASAP.

I would say using Tomcat 8.5.100 should be okay for "a little while" as long as you have a plan to upgrade to something past 8.5.

I haven't heard a single complaint from anyone who upgraded from 8.5 to 9.0 unless they were doing something out of the ordinary.

But you should really have a plan in-place NOW for moving to a supported version of Tomcat.

And using 8.5.49 is a really *really* bad idea for exactly the reasons Chuck has described above.
