I used the .so file from the following link: http://apache.seekmeup.com/tomcat/tomcat-connectors/jk/binaries/win32/jk-1.2.18/ where there are no .DLL files only .so files. Also, there are several .so files in my apache/modules directory.

Also, it looks as though the mod_jk is loading due to Apaches lack of complaining. Any help / direction or chastisment on this would be welcomed. Many thanks!
