A process on a 32-bit OS can't use more than 4GB of RAM, but the OS
certainly can.

Note that I said that MS Windows has it's own issues. This is not
endemic to 32-bit OSs in general, though.

The OP was using Linux, so I'm basically ignoring MS Windows, anyway.
