I meant the project dir created /webapps/sg#server#test/ instead of /webapps/sg/server/test/ Anyways, I got the issues resolved by specifying context elements under server.xml and turned off startupDeploy to prevent double deployment. That is the best way out for me for now until sitemesh is better supported on my system. Thanks all.
