At the risk of stating the obvious, but considering that you're not
getting anywhere anyway, and assuming java is right ..
- what user-id is Tomcat running as ?
- login as root, and do "su - xxxx" (the same user-id)
- do "ls -l /home/someplace/www.someplace.com"
