You're running Tomcat with the Security Manager enabled.

Presumably the Ubuntu package automatically configures the Security Manager in it's startup config. You should examine those files for more clues as to how you can disable it.

If you can disable the Security Manager temporarily, see if the application starts up. If not, send more error log info showing what happened and we'll try to assist.

If it does, re-enable it and you'll have to to figure out what the application is trying to do, then add appropriate permissions in tomcat/conf/catalina.policy.
