Chuck, I understand the ServletConextListener and will investigate the recommendation to see if ServletConextListener is compatible with WebSphere 7 and WebLogic 11g as well and if it is I will make the change.
I make reference to getRealPath to load a property file. I have not had issue with this in other environments, not to say this is not a bad thing to do.
