Sure.

If you only have 0.5GiB available, perhaps requesting a 2GiB heap
isn't wise.

Well, lowering it from 4GiB to 2 GiB will certainly help free up some
of your RAM.

If you only have a 2GiB machine, why bother running 64-bit?
