actually, did you override LabelIconPanel#newImageComponent()? in
there i see code to prevent anticache...

        return new Image(componentId)
                {
                        @Override
                        protected boolean shouldAddAntiCacheParameter()
                        {
                                return false;
                        }
                };
        }
