Office preview should work for any document that supports File > Preview 
in Web Browser, when you open it with OpenOffice.

As Asiri suggested, you should try to import your doc in XWiki using Add 
 > Page from Office. Maybe you haven't configured the OpenOffice server 
properly or you haven't established the connection.
